Our Early Years Foundation Stage welcomes children from the age of two. We develop life-long learners with a spirit of resourcefulness and self-resilience within a warm and purposeful community. We nurture children’s interests and build on this to develop and deepen their knowledge in our indoor and outdoor environments.
We aim to give each child a thirst for life-long learning through a stimulating and innovative curriculum which is inspired by our amazing grounds. We lay the foundation stones from which the children can grow. We are lucky to be part of a vibrant learning community which has an energy and sense of fun, where children feel happy and secure and develop into amazing individuals.
In the Early Years (2-4 years) the children are supported by our experienced staff, and they explore, investigate, observe and discover through a rich and varied curriculum based on the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) which develops firm foundations for learning. The focus is on learning through play and creativity which enables their confidence, self-esteem, and independence to flourish.
Traditional learning, such as the foundations of literacy and numeracy, are balanced with specialist teaching in PE and swimming, as well as engagement in outdoor activities.
In Reception, we introduce a progressively more structured programme to give the children the best start in reading and writing. The children also have input from specialist staff in French and Music, and there are opportunities for educational visits to enhance the learning.
Our outdoor classroom provides our children with a truly holistic education. It has been designed in tune with the Earth Centre philosophy, to encourage and nurture appreciation of the natural world, whilst instilling a sense of personal responsibility for nature conservation.
