Name: Katrina Venner

Position: Gymnastics Coach

Qualifications: Senior Club Coach Women’s Artistic & General, Club Coach Tumbling & Acro, Coach Trampoline. National Judge Women’s Artistic, Club Judge Acro

Bio: Miss Venner enjoyed gymnastics and dance as a child and spent many hours rehearsing and performing and also coaching the younger children in each setting. Her passion for both dance and gymnastics led her to acrobatics at university and on return she set up the North Devon Display Gymnastics Club. She took coaching qualifications to enable the club to develop and the children to continue to learn new skills but she is more interested in supporting grass roots sport running the North Devon Schools’ Gymnastics Competition for over 25 years and finding ways to enable local schools to participate. Miss Venner has stepped back from coaching in recent years owing to her different working roles, but continues to work behind the scenes to organise school events locally, regionally and nationally and to assist Miss Braunton as the children approach competitions.

What is Gymnastics?

An introduction to Gymnastics

Gymnastics is a highly demanding sport that promotes flexibility, strength, and precision. It requires a blend of physical endurance, skill, and mental focus, making it an ideal sport for developing well-rounded individuals. Kingsley School is on route to becoming one of the best private sports schools in the UK, offering an environment where students can thrive both on and off the mat. Gymnastics not only enhances physical fitness but also teaches valuable life skills such as discipline, perseverance, and resilience.

Benefits:

Physical: Enhances flexibility, builds strength, improves coordination, and increases stamina. Regular participation in gymnastics helps students maintain a healthy lifestyle, which is essential for their overall well-being.

Mental: Develops strategic thinking, boosts confidence, promotes resilience, and enhances problem-solving skills. The mental toughness required in gymnastics translates into better academic performance and personal growth.

Social: Encourages teamwork, builds camaraderie, and fosters a strong sense of community. Participating in gymnastics helps students form lasting friendships and learn the importance of working together towards a common goal.
