World Mental Health Day: Cultivating Wellbeing at Kingsley Devon

Today, on World Mental Health Day, we at Kingsley Devon celebrate the importance of mental wellbeing for both our pupils and staff. We believe that a happy and healthy mind is the foundation for academic success, personal growth, and a fulfilling life.

Kingsley's Holistic Approach to Wellbeing

At Kingsley Devon, we go beyond academics. We embrace a holistic approach to education, recognising the vital connection between mental and physical health. Here are some core values that shape our commitment to wellbeing:

  • Connect: We foster a strong sense of community, encouraging positive relationships between pupils, teachers, and parents.
  • Be Active: Engaging in physical activity is a cornerstone of our curriculum. We offer a wide range of sports and outdoor activities in our extra-curricular pathways programmes that promote physical and mental well-being.
  • Learn: We encourage a love of learning and resilience in the face of challenges.
  • Give: We cultivate kindness and compassion through volunteering opportunities and service projects.
  • Appreciate: Our setting within the stunning North Devon countryside inspires mindfulness and appreciation for nature

Extracurricular Activities: A Pathway to Wellness

Kingsley Devon offers a diverse range of extracurricular activities beyond the classroom. These activities provide opportunities for wellness for our pupils and staff to:

  • Develop Passions: From music and drama to art and robotics, pupils can explore their interests and discover hidden talents.
  • Build Confidence: Participation in activities helps pupils develop teamwork skills, leadership qualities, and a sense of accomplishment.
  • Manage Stress: Regular physical activity, whether through our sports, surfing or outdoor education, is a proven stress reliever.
  • Find Balance: Extracurricular activities create a healthy balance between academic studies and leisure pursuits.
  • Foster Creativity: Artistic pursuits both in the Performing Arts Academy and through the Arts Award, our pupils can to express themselves creatively and de-stress in a positive way.

World Mental Health Day is a reminder that prioritising mental wellbeing should be an everyday commitment for our pupils and staff to thrive.

At Kingsley we have pledged to champion mental health and well-being.  It's not just for one day, but every day.
