A Day of Inspiration: Year 10 Drama Masterclass with Mark Wheeller

This week, Kingsley Devon's Year 10 GCSE Drama students and a select group of Drama Scholars had an unforgettable experience. They participated in a one-day workshop led by the acclaimed playwright, Mark Wheeller, a true titan of British theatre with some of the most-performed plays in the country.

Mr. Wheeller generously shared his expertise with our students, focusing on the key ingredients of captivating drama: crafting powerful dialogue and creating dynamic ensemble movement within a piece.

The workshop was a whirlwind of creativity and learning. Students actively participated in exercises designed to hone their writing skills, build their stage presence, and understand the power of movement in storytelling.

The highlight of the day came when Mr. Wheeller, clearly impressed by the students' talent and dedication, invited the group to record a performance of a play extract for his YouTube channel! This incredible opportunity offers our students a platform to showcase their work and gain valuable experience in a professional setting.

We are incredibly grateful to Mark Wheeller for his time and inspiration. This workshop was more than just a masterclass; it was a spark that will undoubtedly ignite a passion for theatre in our students.
