Kingsley Student Takes on Manchester Marathon for Long Covid Kids

Kingsley Devon is incredibly proud to announce that one of our Sixth Form students, Grace, is embarking on an extraordinary challenge: running the Manchester Marathon on April 27th. Grace isn't just running for the thrill of the race, she's running for a cause deeply personal to her - Long Covid Kids.

Grace's journey began in October 2021 when she contracted Covid-19. What followed was a two-year battle with Long Covid, a condition that drastically altered her life. "It stole my happiness, independence, and any sense of a normal teenage life," Grace shared. She went from an active, healthy teenager to struggling to attend school for even a few hours a day."  Kingsley devised a bespoke three year Sixth Form plan for Grace to help support her mental and physical health and enable her to continue studying at her own pace.

During this challenging period, Grace discovered an inner strength and resilience she didn't know she possessed. "I learnt a lot about myself," she reflected. "I found a level of determination and resilience that I didn't know I was capable of, and I hope I can now apply this to marathon training."

Now, Grace is channelling that resilience into training for the Manchester Marathon. She's determined to raise both awareness and funds for Long Covid Kids, a charity that provides invaluable support to young people and families affected by the condition. Long Covid can have a significant impact on mental health, and charities like Long Covid Kids are crucial in providing resources and support during these difficult times. At Kingsley there is so much mental health support and we are utterly determined every student gets the support they need outside the classroom with their physical health and mental health. Our school ethos is simple and is focused on supporting student wellbeing:“Achieving success and happiness through positive mental health and wellbeing.“

Grace's commitment to looking out for others while facing her own challenges is truly inspiring; we are incredibly proud of her. Grace is a true example of school's Our core values which reflect our dedication to fostering overall well-being:

We encourage everyone to support Grace in her fundraising. Every contribution, big or small, will make a difference to Long Covid Kids and the young people they support. You can donate directly to Grace's JustGiving page here: Grace Williams is fundraising for Long Covid Kids

Let's all get behind Grace and help her cross the finish line, both literally and figuratively, in her mission to support Long Covid Kids.
