All students from Year 3 to Year 9 are enrolled in the Performing Arts Academy and will be working towards their relevant Arts Award certificate, with many in Years 10-13 going on to achieve their silver and gold awards. This programme provides a broad exposure to the arts, including creative arts, to help develop cultural capital and literacy as part of our “better me – better world” agenda.

We offer a rich and varied co-curricular program catering to diverse musical interests and talents. Our Ensemble/Concert Band (Modern Music Ensemble), Chamber Ensemble, Kingsley Sings! Choir, Music Theory, and Guitar and Ukulele Club provide students with numerous opportunities to explore and develop their musical abilities through group rehearsals and opportunities to perform in concerts and recitals in and out of school. The ensembles are scheduled during the school timetable on a rota system.
Whether during lunchtime or before school, students can participate in clubs and choirs, fostering a love for music and developing their skills. Our ensembles also benefit from our music scholars' expertise and welcome pursuing instrumental and singing lessons. At the same time, choir and clubs are open to all, ensuring every student can find a place in the Kingsley School Music department.
Beyond the curriculum, students are invited to be part of our annual Senior School Musical. An entirely inclusive experience, where students from all year groups can perform together and be part of the Performing Arts Academy. This is then followed by a smaller group of dedicated talented scholars and those passionate about theatre, working together to perform a play at the local Arts Centre Theatre Festival.
Beyond, this students can follow the LAMDA qualifications, exploring a range of options and grading criteria. To know more about what LAMDA is and the positive impact it can have on students please do look at www.lamda.ac.uk
Identified students and scholars in their chosen disciplines can develop their talents and their interests further through an annual programme of performance opportunities and workshops. Musicians are encouraged to continue with their individual music lessons, working towards their ABRSM grades, and as such will be members of the relevant performance group, be it choir, orchestra or ensemble.
Students are also offered LAMDA coaching and enjoy success in their introductory, performance and communication examinations in both the Prep and the Senior School.
Whilst the highlight of the year on the stage is the annual whole school show, there are also performance opportunities each term in small group theatre, monologues and duologues, assemblies and public arts events. Successful theatre isn’t only about the actors of course, there are opportunities for students to get involved in the technical side of theatre, including sound, lighting, set-design, props, make-up and costume.
